Buying a phone number
Step-by-step guide to purchasing a new phone number from the client portal.
Bookline provides phone numbers in most countries. You buy the number directly from the portal and it is ready to receive calls in minutes.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- The number’s country is taken from your venue. Make sure the venue’s address is correct (see Venues) — if the country shown during the purchase is wrong, edit it in the venue first.
- In some countries numbers cannot be provisioned automatically. If that is your case, the flow will tell you and our team will assign the number with you — just message us through the support chat.
How to buy a number
Section titled “How to buy a number”-
In Channels, click Add and select Phone.
-
Choose the agent that will answer the new number. Pick one of your agents from the list — or select No agent for now to create the channel first and assign an agent later.
-
Review the number. The portal picks a number matching your venue’s country (and, in countries where numbers are tied to a city, it asks you to choose the city). You will see a summary with the country, area code and the agent it will be assigned to.
-
Click Buy number. The number is purchased, the channel is created, and — if you chose an agent — it starts answering right away.
The new channel now appears in your Channels list. If you created it without an agent, you can assign one at any time from the channel page.
When the portal can’t complete the purchase
Section titled “When the portal can’t complete the purchase”- No numbers available in your country — some countries require manual provisioning or identity paperwork. The flow will show “We’ll assign the number for you”: contact support through the chat and we will take care of it.
- You already have a number — if your account already has a number assigned and you need another one, get in touch and we will set it up with you.
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- If customers should keep calling your existing number, set up call forwarding to the new number.
- Review Phone channel settings to control who answers the line.
